ANAHEIM, Calif., 12 July 2011. L-3 Interstate Electronics Corp. (IEC) in Anaheim, Calif., is introducing its VideoScout full-motion video collection and intelligence management software as an application for commercial handheld smartphones and tablets powered by Google’s Android operating system. The VideoScout App enables users to view video from local area network connections and shared intelligence resources -- including other VideoScout devices, remote sensors, military computer servers, and intelligence collection nodes.

VideoScout smartphone app is designed to support deployed military personnel by providing situational awareness during mobile operations such as counter-insurgency, pursuing high-value targets, border-defense, vessel-boarding.

The VideoScout App includes moving maps with geo-referenced metadata, gives access to data networking via private and commercial cellular, Wi-Fi, and mesh networks, and provides information security using AES software encryption. The VideoScout App also transmits data among field users and command centers.

The app also supports military collection tools, including the Tactical Ground Reporting System (TIGR) database. First responders and police also can use the VideoScout App for Android smartphones. For more information contact L-3 IEC online at www.l-3com.com/iec.
