Silver Lake investment firm completes acquisition of SMART Modular Technologies

NEWARK, Calif., 6 Sept. 2011. Investment firm Silver Lake Partners and Silver Lake Sumeru in Menlo Park, Calif., has completed its acquisition of rugged data storage specialist SMART Modular Technologies WWH in Newark, Calif. Shareholders of SMART Modular Technologies (NASDAQ:SMOD) will receive $9.25 per share in cash, for each ordinary share they own.

SMART designs electronic subsystems for computer, enterprise, industrial, networking, gaming, telecommunications, defense, aerospace and embedded applications. SMART products include DRAM, SRAM, and Flash memory in various form factors. SMART also offers high performance, high capacity solid state drives for enterprise, defense, aerospace, industrial automation, medical, and transportation applications.
