EAGLEVILLE, Pa., 30 Nov. 2011. Military electro-optics and laser specialist Clear Align in Eagleville, Pa., has received a federal patent for the company's apparatus and method for generating short optical pulse laser beams for battlefield and other high-reliability laser applications.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office patent number 8,064,491 for Clear Align describes a laser architecture with relatively short pulses and high optical power that resists the kind of shock and vibration typical in military operations.
The technology, developed by Dr. Ralph Jameson, is particularly suited to laser radar, remote sensing, laser altimeters, laser range finding, and medical procedures, says Angelique X. Irvin, Clear Align's chairman and chief executive officer.
Clear Align designs, prototypes and manufactures custom electro-optic products used to gather intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance information for defense, homeland security, and aerospace applications.
