BALTIMORE, 8 Nov. 2011. Comark Corp. in Medfield, Mass., has received type approval on their 47-inch series of MDU marine rugged displays from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), which certifies that Comark rugged marine displays are designed and tested, and can be consistently manufactured, to meet Standards for Maritime Navigation and Radio Communication Equipment and Systems.
The MDU47 uses a 47-inch diagonal, LED backlit, 1920-by-1080-pixel high-resolution liquid crystal display (LCD), and is designed to withstand harsh environments. All electronics are conformal coated to protect against moisture and corrosion. A projected capacitive touchscreen option is available, as well as a integrated computer with an Intel Core i5 or i7 microprocessor.
The MDU47 is Type Approved in a panel mount configuration, with a bulkhead mounted version available shortly, say Comark officials, whose company specializes in ruggedized computers for marine, military, and commercial applications.
Comark made the announcement this week during the AFCEA MILCOM conference and trade show in Baltimore, which highlights technologies in military communications and embedded computing.
The MDU47 is for a wide variety of commercial marine and military applications, such as information display, system status, and navigation and instrument consolidation.
