  • March 18, 2012 -- Boeing moves Apache Block III attack helicopter program forward with $187 million Army contract
    REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala., 18 March 2012. Military helicopter experts at the Boeing Co. Defense, Space & Security segment in Mesa, Ariz., are moving forward with the Apache Block III attack helicopter program with a $187 million contract Friday from the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., for development, integration and testing requirements on the Apache Block III program.
  • January 6, 2012 -- ITT Exelis moves ahead with AIDEWS airborne electronic warfare systems development and tests
    CLIFTON, N.J., 6 Jan. 2012. Electronic combat experts at the ITT Exelis (NYSE:XLS) Electronic Systems division in Clifton, N.J., have installed and tested an advanced self-defense airborne electronic warfare system on an international F-16 jet fighter aircraft. The company did not name the specific country for which its engineers performed the tests. The ITT Exelis ALQ-211 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare System (AIDEWS) completed several F-16 sorties against several different kinds of radar threats, company officials say.
  • January 10, 2012 -- Ethiopian Airlines orders Blended Winglets for 767-300ER aircraft.
    SEATTLE, 10 Jan. 2012. Ethiopian Airlines executives have ordered from Aviation Partners Boeing, a Seattle-based joint venture of Aviation Partners Inc. and The Boeing Company, Blended Winglets for the company’s 767-300ER airplanes. Ethiopian Airlines personnel will install the winglets at the company’s maintenance facility at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa. Initial installations, involving three aircraft, will commence in Feb. 2012.
  • January 10, 2012 -- Navy eyes Next-Generation Jammer program; industry briefings set for January and February
    PATUXENT RIVER NAS, Md., 10 Jan. 2012. U.S. Navy electronic warfare experts are shifting into high gear in a program to develop the Next-Generation Jammer (NGJ), which will replace the AN/ALQ-199 as the Navy's primary airborne electronic warfare system. Navy officials will release a full solicitation later this year for the technology development phase of the NGJ program, and is scheduling industry day briefings in January and February to release program details to potential industry bidders.
  • January 12, 2012 -- AirBorn Inc. acquires AESCO Electronics, adds new capabilities and employees
    GEORGETOWN, Texas, 12 Jan. 2012. AirBorn Inc., a manufacturer of electronic components for the aerospace, avionics, defense, energy, medical, and automotive industries, has acquired AESCO Electronics, a full-service electronics manufacturer and distributor with divisions in Ohio and Massachusetts. With the acquisition, AirBorn is forming AirBorn Electronics Inc., a new division headed by AESCO President Roger Engle that will focus on providing value-added products and services to high-reliability commercial markets. AirBorn is gaining higher levels of contract manufacturing, design, and distribution capabilities, says a representative.
