  • December 26, 2012 -- Microsemi RTAX-DSP FPGAs receive QML Class V and Q qualification for rad-hard use in space
    SAN JOSE, Calif., 26 Dec. 2012. The Microsemi Corp. SoC Products Group (formerly Actel Corp.) in San Jose, Calif., has earned Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) Class V and QML Class Q qualifications for the company's RTAX-DSP field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), which means the FPGAs are approved for use in satellites and other spacecraft.
  • January 3, 2012 -- NASA and Lockheed Martin place two Grail spacecraft into orbit around the moon
    DENVER, January 3, 2012. Both of NASA’s Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) spacecraft were successfully inserted into orbit around the Earth’s moon. The mission will analyze the internal structure and gravitational forces of the moon. Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] built the twin robotic spacecraft and is conducting flight operations for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The first orbiter, GRAIL-A fired its main engine on Dec. 31 at 2:21 p.m. MT. The 38-minute burn slowed the spacecraft down and was captured into orbit by the moon’s gravity.
  • January 11, 2012 -- NASA selects a.i. solutions to provide integrated launch services to Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 2 contract
    CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., 11 Jan. 2012. NASA has contracted a.i. solutions Inc. of Lanham, Md., to provide integrated services for the preparation and launch of NASA's next generation of scientific and exploration spacecraft under the agency's Launch Services Program (LSP). The Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 2 (ELVIS 2) contract, valued at up to $138.1 million, features a two-month, phase-in period beginning Feb. 2012, followed by a one-and-a-half-year base period from April 1, 2012, through Sept. 30, 2013.
  • January 11, 2012 -- Lockheed Martin receives contract from U.S. Air Force for GPS III launch and checkout capability
    EWTOWN, Penn., January 11th, 2012. The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] a $21.5 million contract to provide a Launch and Checkout Capability (LCC) to command and control all GPS III satellites from launch through early on-orbit testing.
  • January 11, 2012 -- Boeing starts NASA solar electric propulsion study
    HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Jan. 11, 2012. The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has begun work on a four-month NASA contract to develop a mission concept study for solar electric propulsion technologies.
