Mentor Graphics teams with Freescale to offer high-speed simulation for QorIQ and AMP

WILSONVILLE, Ore., 17 Jan. 2012. Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ:MENT) in Wilsonville, Ore., is introducing high-speed simulation capability for the Freescale Semiconductor QorIQ P-Series, AMP, and QorIQ Qonverge multicore embedded processors, based on a preferred, long-term partnership agreement with Freescale, Mentor officials say. The Vista product from Mentor enables Freescale users to execute a variety of virtual prototyping and port, debug, and optimize operating systems and application software.

(NASDAQ:MENT) in Wilsonville, Ore., is introducing high-speed electronic design automation (EDA) simulation capability for the Freescale Semiconductor QorIQ P-Series, AMP, and QorIQ Qonverge multicore embedded computing processors, based on a preferred, long-term partnership agreement with Freescale, Mentor officials say.

Mentor is offering a virtual prototyping environment and enabling technologies for Freescale users. The Vista product from Mentor enables Freescale users to execute a variety of virtual prototyping and port, debug, and optimize operating systems and application software. Freescale provides and validates the base SoC models, which are integrated and packaged in Vista libraries.

These Vista Virtual Prototype packages include the SoC HW model, optionally integrated with Linux, and can be expanded with a variety of standard and custom IPs and Physical I/Os.

Freescale’s QorIQ product lines include the QorIQ P-Series, which spans from single core devices consuming as little as 1.1 Watts of power to the flagship eight-core QorIQ P4080, which delivers 1.5 GHz per core performance within a tight power envelope.

The QorIQ Advanced Multiprocessing (AMP) processor series has a multithreaded 64-bit Power Architecture core, 28-nanometer process technology, as many as 24 virtual cores, acceleration engines, and power management.
