QUIMPER, France, 20 Feb. 2012. Interface Concept in Quimper, France, is introducing the IC-INT-VPX3a 3U OpenVPX single-board computer for demanding military embedded systems applications like radar processing that require performance, flexibility, and reliability. The embedded computing module based on the Intel second-generation Core i7 processor.

The CPU board has the Intel QM67 chipset and as much as 8 gigabytes DDR3-1333 with ECC, a dual-core processor that operates at 2.2 GHz, and I/O that includes PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, serial UARTs, and GPIOs for on-board and off-board functions.

The computer board also has the Spartan-6 Open field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for custom functionality, and uses the UEFI 2.1 firmware interface -- and improved replacement of the legacy BIOS firmware interface. The EFI specification was originally developed by Intel and is now managed by the Unified EFI Forum, officially known as Unified EFI (UEFI).

The board comes in standard, rugged, and conduction-cooled versions. Software operating system support includes Windows, Linux, and VxWorks. For more information contact Interface Concept online at www.interfaceconcept.com.
