Weatherhaven chooses Analytic Systems to provide mil-spec battery chargers for Canadian military vehicle shelters

DELTA, British Columbia, 27 May 2012. Military field shelter specialist Weatherhaven in Burnaby, British Columbia, needed mil-spec battery chargers for Canadian Department of National Defense special equipment vehicle shelters. They found their solution from Analytic Systems Ware LTD in Delta, British Columbia.

Analytic Systems has signed a three-year supply agreement with Weatherhaven to supply at least 376 BCA1503MS-220-24DW battery chargers over the next three years for special equipment vehicle shelters that Weatherhaven is supplying to the Canadian military.

The BCA1503MS-220-24DW commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) battery charger, which meets military specifications, is built work at temperatures as cold as -40 degrees Celsius and is EMI certified to MILSTD461F.

The BCA1503 battery charger provides as much as 1,350 Watts to charge a 12- or 24-volt one-bank battery system from a 110- or 220-volt AC source. The charger has switchmode technology for efficiency and quiet operation.

Several stages of filtering reduce radiated or conducted noise to meet MIL-STD 461E. Features include audible and visual indicators for low input voltage, low output voltage, and over-temperature.

Safety features include charger and battery over-temperature shutdown, current limiting, short circuit protection with automatic recovery, input undervoltage shutdown, and output over-voltage crowbar. Optional features include a three-bank load splitter.

The Weatherhaven special equipment vehicle shelters are for militarized commercial off-the-shelf vehicles and standard military pattern vehicles. They will be produced in five variants and will be specially equipped as part of the project, which is providing replacements for Canadian military medium logistics trucks and ancillaries.

Weatherhaven provides re-deployable shelters, camps, and systems for remote sites for commercial, military, medical, and disaster-relief applications. Analytic Systems provides military DC/DC converters, MPPT solar charge controllers, inverters, battery chargers and power supplies.
