Goodrich air rescue, pilot situational awareness, braking systems on display at Farnborough International Airshow

CHARLOTTE, N.C., 9 July 2012. Goodrich Corp. (NYSE:GR) is showcasing advanced systems—including safety and rescue, carbon brake, and pilot situational awareness solutions—for commercial aircraft, defense, and space applications at the Farnborough International Airshow.

The Goodrich pavilion features an inflated life raft from its Winslow product range, used by corporate and business aircraft manufacturers and custom-designed to fit a variety of aircraft interiors. The advanced safety and rescue systems display also boasts rescue hoists and the Goodrich ACES 5 ejection seat.

Goodrich is also displaying a C-130 boltless wheel and its Boeing 737 Next Generation DURACARB carbon brake system, offering eight times longer brake life and six times longer wheel life than current steel wheel and brake systems, says a spokesperson. An example of a current-generation thrust reverser actuator is shown as well as an advanced composite high lift transmission shaft from CTG.

The Goodrich display will feature an MDR-80 mission data recorder with an advanced TERPROM digital terrain system. It blends and interprets the inputs of a diverse array of sensors to provide pilots with situational awareness. A real-time simulation enables visitors to see the system in action as they pilot an aircraft across varied terrain.

Visitors will be able to experience Goodrich's SmartDisplay electronic flight bag (EFB), able to display GPS-based automatic dependent surveillance broadcast (ADS-B) information, a requirement of the NextGen air transportation system.

The DB-110 reconnaissance intelligence exploitation system, one of Goodrich's modular and scalable workstations providing intelligence capture, processing, exploitation, reporting, and dissemination is also on display. The Goodrich TASE 400 high-performance, gyro-stabilized camera gimbal, is also on display for surveillance, inspection, law enforcement, fire fighting, and environmental monitoring.
