AgustaWestland takes orders for 70 light- and medium-lift helicopters at Farnborough for oil and gas, news, and police

FARNBOROUGH, England, 12 July 2012. Helicopter designer AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company based in Samarate, Italy, and Farnborough, England, has signed agreements to provide 70 helicopters this week at the Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England.

On Thursday AgustaWestland took orders for three VIP AW169 helicopters from Linfox, a supply-chain-management company based in Australia. Linfox will use the twin-engine medium-lift helicopter for corporate transport in the Melbourne area of Australia, AgustaWestland officials say.

On Wednesday AgustaWestland signed an order for six AW169 helicopters from Specialist Aviation Services Ltd., a police and medical aviation support company in Cheltenham, England. Specialist Aviation will use the helicopters for emergency services missions with deliveries starting in 2015.

Also on Wednesday All Nippon Helicopter in Tokyo ordered one AgustaWestland AW139 medium-lift twin-engine helicopter electronic news gathering, which All Nippon is conducting for Nippon Housou Kyoukai (NHK) Japanese National Broadcasting corporation.

Wednesday also saw an AgustaWestland sale of five AW189 medium-lift helicopters to ERA Group, a large building company in New Delhi, India. ERA Group will use the AW189 helicopters for long-range offshore transport missions.

Earlier at Farnborough, AgustaWestland took an order Monday from the Italian Police in Rome for two AW139 helicopters for law enforcement, border patrol, and other public utility applications. Included in the contract is a support and training package for crews and maintenance personnel plus options for an additional six helicopters to be exercised within late 2012/early 2013.

Also on Monday, AgustaWestland took an order for one AW169 helicopter from an unidentified customer in South America. Monday also saw AgustaWestland take orders for two AW139s from the Fire Disaster Management Agency (FDMA) and Yokohama City in Japan. The Japanese agencies will use the helicopters for fire fighting missions.

Leading off AgustaWestland's helicopter sales at Farnborough Monday was an order from CHC Helicopter, a large helicopter services company in Richmond, British Columbia, for 10 AW139 helicopters. CHC will use the AW139s for offshore transport missions in support of the oil and gas industry.
