AMBLER, Pa., 6 July 2012. MEN Micro Inc. in Ambler, Pa., is introducing the G201 3U CompactPCI Serial peripheral board for data-intensive embedded computing applications such as connecting external data storage media and devices such as high-speed cameras.

The board has four front-end USB 3.0 host interfaces that either connect fast USB 3.0 devices or extend the 2.0 USB interfaces of the CPU board. Each port, connected via PCI Express, can handle data transfers as fast as 5 gigabits per second per direction, which is a tenfold increase over USB 2.0 ports, company officials say.

The board operates temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and it is prepared for conformal coating to protect against humidity and dust.

Using the Standard-A connector for the USB ports, the 3.0 interfaces are backward-compatible to USB 2.0. For more information contact MEN Micro online at www.menmicro.com.
