UTC Aerospace Systems opens facility in Africa

CHARLOTTE, N.C., 9 Oct. 2012. UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), inaugurated Ratier-Figeac Maroc (RFM), its new Propeller Systems facility in Casablanca, Morocco. The subsidiary is UTC Aerospace Systems' first facility in Africa.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., 9 Oct. 2012. UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), inaugurated Ratier-Figeac Maroc (RFM), its new Propeller Systems facility in Casablanca, Morocco. The subsidiary is UTC Aerospace Systems' first facility in Africa.

RFM, devised in Jan. 2011, operates a 46,000-square-foot facility and specializes in the assembly of cockpit controls and cabin equipment.

RFM technicians trained at the Institut des Metiers de l'Aeronautique (IMA), the Moroccan Institute specialized in training in aeronautical activities. Employees began working onsite at the RFM facility in Morocco in March 2012.

Michel Ferey leads the Propeller Systems business at UTC Aerospace Systems. UTC Aerospace Systems' Propeller Systems unit designs, manufactures, and services propeller systems, cockpit controls, cabin equipment, and Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer Actuator (THSA) systems for commercial, regional, corporate, and military aircraft.

UTC Aerospace Systems designs, manufactures, and services integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense industries.
