Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the XMC-715 graphics controller mezzanine card for demanding applications such as moving maps, mission computer displays, helmet-mounted displays, and heads-up displays in deployed air and ground applications.
Based on the AMD Radeon E4690 graphics processor unit (GPU), the XMC-715 comes with GPU, power supply circuitry and memory. Its dual independent graphics output channels support video interfaces such as PAL/NTSC interlaced analog formats to high-resolution dual-link DVI.
The rugged XMC (ANSI-VITA 42.3) card is designed to deliver optimal performance over the full military operating temperature range, and eliminates the need for a run time license from a third party.
Curtiss-Wright offers DO-178B/C drivers and a DO-254 kit for the GPU. The card's Radeon E4690 GPU is a multi-chip module with 512 megabytes of dedicated video memory integrated to the GPU through a 128-bit DDR3 memory interface.
It supports an 8-lane PCI Express Gen 2.0 host interface and can operate automatically at 1-lane, 2-lanes, 4-lanes or 8-lanes depending on the capabilities of the host board. The card enables large amounts of video data to be transferred quickly.
Software support for the XMC-715 includes graphic driver software for Windows or Linux on an Intel platform with AMD's Catalyst graphics driver. The XMC-715 operates seamlessly with Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Linux (x86), Windows DirectX 10.1 and Windows OpenGL 3.3.
For Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and Power Architecture driver support on Wind River VxWorks, Wind River VxWorks 653, Green Hills Software Integrity, Green Hills Software Integrity-178, DDCI DEOS and other operating environments CWCDS resells the Core Avionics and Industrial (CoreAVI) Radeon E4690 driver solutions and provides direct customer support.
