ASHBURN, Va., 18 Nov. 2012. Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is introducing Wind River VxWorks multiple independent levels of security (MILS) support for the Curtiss-Wright VPX6-187 single board computer.

The MILS infrastructure development of multilevel secure (MLS) and cross domain solutions (CDS) systems that can process classified data at several levels or from several domains simultaneously, including downgraders, filters, guards, and other cross-domain applications.

Curtiss-Wright introduced the VPX6-187 in 2009, and last year added Green Hills Integrity multivisor software support for the board. Integrity is the Green Hills real-time software operating system for embedded computing. Integrity Multivisor is a multicore, microkernel-based Type-1 hypervisor for secure consolidation and separation of disparate real-time applications.

The latest board support package (BSP) from Wind River can ease and speed the integration of MILS into deployed, rugged, multi-core systems, providing increased secure processing capabilities in applications with size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints, Curtiss-Wright officials say.

VxWorks MILS features security and scalability from the separation kernel; application support; re-use of VxWorks, Linux, or open source IP using VxWorks Guest OS or Wind River Linux Guest OS support; development life cycle tools support; configuration and build partitioning; partner middleware support; PAMU, FMAN, BMAN, QMAN, and PME hardware support; and Wind River services support.

VPX6-187 is based on Freescale's eight-core QorIQ P4080 communications processor. This rugged 6U VPX general purpose computer board supports the eight Power Architecture processor cores with high-performance datapath acceleration logic, network and peripheral bus interfaces.
