CHELMSFORD, Mass., 12 Nov. 2012. Mercury Computer Systems Inc. in Chelmsford, Mass., is working together with TE Connectivity in Berwyn, Pa., to develop next-generation rugged OpenVPX connector for embedded computing systems in high-vibration aerospace and defense environments that require high-speed signals.

The collaboration will enable Mercury and TE to focus on increasing the interconnect speeds of embedded multicomputer systems using high-speed serial interconnects such as InfiniBand, 40 Gigabit Ethernet, and PCI Express 3.0, company officials say.

Mercury specializes in high-performance embedded computing and RF and microwave systems, while TE Connectivity has expertise in high-performance connectors for high-throughput signals.
