Dell acquires data protection company Credant Technologies

ROUND ROCK, Texas, 29 Dec. 2012. Dell has completed the acquisition of Credant Technologies, a provider of data protection solutions to secure, manage, and control data sent from endpoints to servers, storage, and the cloud.

Dell has completed the acquisition of Credant Technologies, a provider of data protection solutions to secure, manage, and control data sent from endpoints to servers, storage, and the cloud. Dell's acquisition of Credant is meant to strengthen the security, reliability, and manageability of their portfolio.

Credant technology encrypts and protects user and organization data, from mobile devices, to personal computers, to the cloud, while working with existing systems management processes. The technology Credant has developed works with multiple mobile operating systems as well, for additional flexibility.

Founded in 2001 by Bob Heard, Credant technology is used by more than 1,000 customers worldwide and is used to protect more than 10 million endpoint devices.
