Teledyne BlueView begins shipping tiny imaging sonar suitable for small submarines and UUVs

SEATTLE, 8 Jan. 2013. Teledyne BlueView Technologies Inc. in Seattle has begun shipments of the company's newly developed M Series 2D multibeam imaging sonar systems for real-time high-resolution sonar imagery for underwater navigation, monitoring, target tracking, and other underwater imaging tasks.

The small size of the M Series imaging sonar, which company officials say is 30 percent smaller than Teledyne BlueView’s P900 Series and includes the same features and functionality, is particularly useful for unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs).

Initial buyers of the Teledyne BlueView M Series imaging sonar include ocean research supplier Oceanographic & Geophysical Instruments in Sandwich, Mass.; and commercial diving firm Global Diving & Salvage in Seattle.

The M Series imaging sonar is available with 45-, 90-, or 130-degree field-of-view options, a lightweight model with near neutral buoyancy, and a built-in 10-degree down-angle for remotely operated vehicle (ROV) applications.

Teledyne BlueView specializes in 2D imaging and 3D scanning sonar technology with more than 500 installed systems worldwide, company officials say. For more information contact Teledyne BlueView online at www.blueview.com.
