TDK-Lambda unveils convection-cooled, compact 300-watt power supplies

SAN DIEGO, 7 Feb. 2013. TDK-Lambda is introducing the ZWS line of compact AC-DC power supplies.

The new single-output ZWS300BAF series provides 300 watts with convection cooling (no fans required). This design eliminates the need for fan maintenance and reduces acoustic noise and vibrations, according to a company representative. The units have a low profile of 1.45 inches, and a compact footprint of 3.31 x 7.01 inches, making them well suited to test & measurement, communications, and IT equipment applications.

The power supplies operate from a universal input of 85-264 volts AC, 47-63 Hz, with PFC. They can operate from a 120-370 volts DC input.

All models in the ZWS-BAF series offer output ratings from 50 watts to 300 watts and can withstand 3 kilovolts (kV) AC, input-to-output. The ZWS300BAF series are available with an output voltage of 24, 36, or 48 volts DC, all of which have a +/-10 percent adjustment range.

The convection-cooled operating temperature range is from -10 degrees C to +70 degrees C with derating above +45 degrees C. The power supply can be operated at up +60 degrees C without derating if forced air cooling is available in the system and can be routed through the supply. The power-saving efficiency is up to 91 percent.

Other standard features include overvoltage and overcurrent protections. Optional remote On/Off connections can be provided to allow for remote control of the supply, and if employed, the standby (Off) power consumption is only 0.5 watt, an important requirement in many ‘green’ initiatives. 

The ZWS-BAF series feature global ITE and general-purpose safety agency certifications per UL/CSA/EN60950-1, EN50178 (OV II), are CE Marked, meet the conducted and radiated EMI requirements of EN55011/EN55022-B, VCCI-B, and FCC Class B. These units include a 5-year warranty.

These units are available now and priced at $139.0 each in 500 piece quantities.
