ASHBURN, Va., 19 July 2013.Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is launching the company's Fabric40 program to increase the interconnect speeds of high-performance embedded computing (HPEC) systems to 40 gigabits per second.

The Fabric40 program rings support for the newest generation of high-speed serial fabrics, including QDR Infiniband and 40 Gigabit Ethernet to the company's family of end-to-end commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) system solutions.

Fabric40 is for HPEC implementations in the most demanding defense and aerospace rugged deployed applications such as next-generation radar and signal processing, as well as command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) applications, company officials say.

The Fabric40 program establishes end-to-end approach to integrating high-speed fabrics. In addition to enabling individual system components with 40 gigabits per second high-speed interconnects, the Fabric40 program also ensures that all aspects of this data fabric technology are configured to work together.

Curtiss-Wright Fabric40 products are to offer end-to-end support for 10- and 40 gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabrics, and support 10-gigabit-per-second Infiniband SDR, 20-gigabit-per-second DDR, and 40-gigabit-per-second QDR and FDR-10.

Fabric40 products support Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technology in Ethernet and Infiniband modes. The Fabric40 ecosystem also includes middleware software such as IPC and OFED/MPI interfaces, which are all optimized to support next-generation 40 gigabits per second systems, Curtiss-Wright officials say.

The CHAMP-AV9 rugged, high-performance OpenVPX (VITA 65) digital signal processing board is the first product of the Curtiss-Wright Fabric40 program. The board is based on a pair of 4th generation Intel Core i7-4700EQ Haswell processors.
