SIDNEY, N.Y., 11 Sept. 2013. Amphenol Industrial Global Operations in Sidney, N.Y., is introducing the MVC series of rugged heavy-duty medium-voltage couplers for use in hazardous environments.

The connectors are for mining, utilities, tunneling, and shore power for transfer of electricity throughout a job site. These couplers vary in voltage from 600 volts to 15 kilovolts with amperages to 600 amps.

The MVC series features Amphenol's RADSOK technology and Rapid-Couple technology, an interlock method for mating and unmating in the field without tools or closing mechanisms.

The MVC couplers have secure fitting covers that repel water and soil while keeping the contacts uncontaminated. In addition, the couplers incorporate a combined strain relief and cable seal system to keep out moisture.

The couplers come with a standard aluminum housing; alternate materials are available, and feature elongated ground planes, shielded phase conductors, solder- and compression-terminated contacts, as well as fire retardant insulators.

The connectors come in various powder coat colors. All parts are replaceable and can be serviced easily in the field, saving time and money. For more information contact Amphenol Industrial online at www.amphenol-industrial.com.
