Rugged computer based on 4th Gen Intel Core i7 introduced by Ecrin for unmanned vehicles

The COM Express internal architecture enables a switchover to the latest version of the Intel Core i7 processor without changing anything inside the box other than substituting the CPU module, company officials say.

The 4th Gen Intel Core i7 offers a graphics performance improvement of 25 percent for same power consumption. An AMD E6760 general-purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU) companion with 576 billion floating point operations per second remains a key option for high-definition digital and analog video processing.

The computer's AVX2 floating point instruction set for signal and image processing can apply the unit to radar, sonar, electronic warfare, situational awareness, detection, and tracking, officials say.

Other improvements include one added VGA port directly from CPU, BIOS versions to configure GPGPU, DVI-D output, a display port that can be factory fitted to another DVI-D port, MIL-DTL-38999 connector, outputs for STANAG-3350 signals, RS343, RGBHV, or other formats on customer request.
