DARPA to brief industry 18 Feb. on program to create new Internet search paradigm

ARLINGTON, Va., 6 Feb. 2014. U.S. military researches will conduct industry briefings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 18 Feb. 2014 on a program to find new approaches for deep search of the Internet that offer domain-specific indexing of web content and domain-specific search capabilities.
ARLINGTON, Va., 6 Feb. 2014. U.S. military researches will conduct industry briefings from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 18 Feb. 2014 on a program to find new approaches for deep search of the Internet that offer domain-specific indexing of web content and domain-specific search capabilities.

Officials of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will brief industry on the Memex program at the Capital Conference Center, 3601 Wilson Blvd., in Arlington, Va. Those interested in attending the briefings should register online no later than 13 Feb. 2014 at http://www.sa-meetings.com/memex. There will be no on-site registration.

The Memex program envisions a new paradigm that will enable users of the World Wide Web to organize a subset of the Internet relevant to their interests, as well as to help counter human trafficking crimes such as slavery and the sex trade.

All attendees must present government-issued photo identification to enter the event. Briefings are to familiarize participants with the Memex program; identify potential proposers; and promote discussion among potential participants.

Registration on the day of the event will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Presentations from Christopher White, the DARPA Memex program manager, as well as from DARPA contracts and security representatives, will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Questions and answers will be from 11 a.m. to noon, proposers sidebar meetings with the DARPA program manager will be from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
