DARPA to brief industry in July on new directions for the Microsystems Technology Office

ARLINGTON, Va., 25 June 2014. U.S. military researchers will brief industry next month on a plan to enable entirely new classes of technology-driven capabilities for national security, as opposed to creating single end-point solutions.

Officials of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Va., will present the new technical vision and mission for the DARPA Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 18 July 2014 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, in Arlington, Va.

Registration for the event closes this Friday, 27 June 2014, so those wishing to attend should move quickly.

This DARPA MTO Exposition MTO will introduce and define the four new office thrusts to provide the performer community with information on the future direction of the office.

The Exposition seeks to bring technological communities and DARPA MTO program managers together, and facilitate collaboration among academia, industry, and the government. This meeting also will showcase MTO's programs.

MTO seeks to explore several key challenge areas, which include effectively using the congested electromagnetic spectrum and addressing next-generation information flow and processing -- all while maintaining affordable solutions in today's fiscally constrained yet increasingly globalized environment.

MTO's goal is to enable entirely new classes of technology-driven capabilities for national security, as opposed to creating single end-point solutions.

The Exposition also will include a poster session to highlight current MTO programs, as well as present interactive demonstrations and individual whiteboard sessions for detailed technical discussions with MTO program managers. A panel consisting of past MTO leadership also will discuss how the microsystems landscape has evolved over the past 20 years.

Check-in begins at 7 a.m. eastern time on Friday, July 18. All attendees must present government-issued photo identification. Registration costs $50 per person.
