ASHBURN, Va., 13 Jan. 2015. The Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the Parvus DuraNET 20-11 rugged, small, lightweight 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet switch for manned and unmanned military and civil ground vehicles and aircraft.

ASHBURN, Va., 13 Jan. 2015. The Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the Parvus DuraNET 20-11 rugged, small, lightweight 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet switch for manned and unmanned military and civil ground vehicles and aircraft.

The Parvus DuraNET 20-11 vetronics and avionics networking device is a managed Layer 2+ switch has a stacked circuit board layout and system-on-a-chip technology to deliver advanced network switching in an miniature form factor.

The switch weighs less than half a pound, requires less than 10 cubic inches of volume, and consumes less than 8 Watts of power. It is for connecting Ethernet-enabled embedded devices such as computers, cameras, sensors, and command-and-control equipment.

The DuraNET 20-11 provides carrier-grade Ethernet software Level-2+ management, and includes support for IEEE-1588v2 Precision Timing Protocol (PTP). It complies with MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-1275D, MIL-STD-461F, and RTCA/DO-160.

The compact subsystem is sealed, has no moving parts, and works in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The devices uses military-grade circular connectors for electromagnetic compatibility, and has integrated EMI/power filtering.
