WATERLOO, Ontario, 19 June 2015. Pixus Technologies in Waterloo, Ontario, is introducing the PXS0108 1U, 6-slot, low cost, data-grade MicroTCA chassis for defense, communications, and industrial applications that do not require all of the functionality, and associated expense, of a compliant MicroTCA system.

The PXS0108 embedded computing has an active backplane that alleviates the need for expensive power modules. The backplane provides a power manager for each slot that controls and limits the management and payload power to the maximum allowed.

A cooling design with push-pull, side-to-side air-flow removes the need for expensive cooling units. The chassis supports as many as six mid-height Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AMCs) and as many as two MicroTCA Carrier Hubs (MCHs).

The PXS0108 has configuration options that allow redundant power supplies, backplane topologies, and FRU information devices. All AMCs are hot swappable. In the redundant configuration, MCH fail-over is supported and MCHs are hot swappable.

A maximum of 400-Watt redundant or non-redundant AC or DC power is available. The chassis dimensions are 19 inches wide by 1U high by 9 inches deep.
