SIDNEY, N.Y., 30 June 2015. Amphenol Industrial Products Group in Sidney, N.Y., is introducing right-angle overmolded rugged power connectors for 200- and 400-amp connection systems for modern electrification programs in high voltage and high amperage uses.

Applications for the power electronics devices include power converters, hybrid electric vehicles, heavy equipment electrification, two- and three-phase motors and starter generators in the military, construction, agricultural, bus, truck, motor bike, and mining industries.

The right-angle devices are part of the Amphenol ePower connector series, rated at 800 to 1,000 volts DC. Designs for higher current ratings of 500 and 700 amps continuous also are completed.

In the energy storage market, where space is at an ever-increasing premium, these cost-ePower connectors can replace as many as three conventional connectors.

These rugged power connectors incorporate Amphenol's RADSOK technology system to achieve relatively high current ratings, low insertion forces, and low temperature rise and contact resistance.

Amphenol's ePower connector series has IP2X receptacles available in crimp, lug, or bus bar termination, while the plug has IP2X crimp pins and can accommodate shielded wire. All connectors are available in two and three pole versions.

This connector series includes an all-aluminum shell, strain relief for the jacketed cable, and vibration resistance as well as two signal terminals for last mate-first break HVIL purposes.

Amphenol's expanded ePower series offers design options like sealing caps for the plugs and receptacles and cavity plugs where one terminal connection is not needed.
