HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 14 July 2015. GE Energy Management's Intelligent Platforms business in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the SBC347A rugged 3U OpenVPX single-board computer for demanding applications in harsh, SWaP (size, weight and power) constrained military environments.

Based on Core i7 Broadwell processor technology from Intel, the embedded computing board is for applications like manned and unmanned vehicles, signal processing, sonar, radar, command and control, energy exploration, and transportation.

The SBC347A benefits from two channels of 10 10GBASE-T Ethernet connectivity, giving it 10x the Ethernet capability of earlier computer boards. the SBC347A provides a simple, form/fit/function pin-compatible upgrade path, company officials say.

The latest Intel Core i7 quad core processor, operating at speeds to 2.7 GHz, can deliver as much as 15 percent greater CPU performance and 30 percent greater 3D graphics performance compared with its predecessors.
