HUDSON, Mass., 13 Aug. 2015. Smiths Connectors in Hudson, Mass., is introducing the Nebula series Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) 6-gigabit-per-second rugged connector for aerospace, defense and industrial rugged data storage applications.

The Nebula series from Smiths Connectors (formerly Hypertronics Corp.) offers high speed data rates with 100 ohm impedance matching and minimal losses. The Nebula uses the industry-standard PCB soldering footprint to avoid changes to SATA drive layouts.

The Nebula connector uses the Hypertac hyperboloid contacts to resist the effects of shock and vibration, and provide more than 100,000 mating cycles. Its current carrying capacity is as much as 1.5 amps per contact.

The connector's pins are protected by recessed contacts within insulators made from high -temperature rated durable liquid crystal polymers that resist cracking even in extremely harsh operating environments.

Available for direct mounting to PCB, the Nebula series supports independent function for all its 22 contacts. It also offers optional quarter-turn locking hardware.

The Nebula Connector series is compatible with the SATA next-generation signal standard. For more information contact Smiths Connectors online at www.smithsconnectors.com.
