Officials of the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, on behalf of the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), is asking Inmarsat Government to provide telecommunications services that include satellite communications (SATCOM) capacity in C-, Ku-, Ka-, and X-Band for mobile and fixed satellite transceivers on military ships, aircraft, ground vehicles, and fixed sites.
The contract is worth between $150,000 and $450 million, and consists of a one-year base and four one-year option periods for a total contract life of five years, DISA officials say.
The base period began this week and extends through September 2016. Each option year, if exercised, would begin each September through 2020. DISA will fund task orders each year out of the Pentagon's operations and maintenance budget.
