OLATHE, Kan., 2 Oct. 2015. Garmin International Inc. in Olathe, Kan., is introducing the GTC 580 touchscreen controller for the company's G2000, G3000, and G5000 integrated flight deck avionics, while providing standby flight display capabilities.

A high-resolution landscape display and responsive infrared touchscreen serves as the primary point of entry to streamline flight plan modifications and data entry. The GTC 580 provides fight deck management control, including flight planning, radio and audio management, and weather systems control.

Stand-alone attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) and air data sensors derived from an independent source display back-up attitude information on the GTC 580, alleviating the need to install a dedicated back-up display in the panel.

In addition to standby flight attitude information, the GTC 580 also displays air speed, barometric altitude, and heading information alongside attitude information on one display.

Primary AHRS data from the integrated flight deck flows to the GTC 580 and compares it against the stand-alone AHRS and air data information; it notifies pilots of any discrepancies between AHRS sources and can select standby flight mode manually.

If a primary flight display fails, the GTC 580 can revert to standby flight display mode automatically.

The GTC 580 features an icon-driven interface on a 5.8-inch liquid crystal display. The sunlight-readable 1280-by-768-pixel display has an infrared touchscreen.

Pilots also can control the integrated flight deck displays via the GTC 580, including moving map, weather overlays, transponder, and radio controls.
