RF amplifier for EW, communications, test, and radar introduced by Empower RF Systems

Empower RF Systems Inc. in Holbrook, N.Y., is introducing the model 2180 RF amplifier system for electronic warfare (EW), communications, test and measurement, and high-power pulse applications for S-band radar and multi-kilowatt power combinations for L and S-band applications.

HOLBROOK, N.Y., 13 Nov. 2015. Empower RF Systems Inc. in Holbrook, N.Y., is introducing the model 2180 RF amplifier system for electronic warfare (EW), communications, test and measurement, and high-power pulse applications for S-band radar and multi-kilowatt power combinations for L and S-band applications.

The model 2180 covers 1 to 2.5 GHz and delivering 2 kilowatts continuous wave of broadband output power in an 8U air-cooled chassis.

The device offers:

-- single RF input and output operating over the specified frequency ranges;
-- user-selectable configuration and operation in three different modes ranging from automatic gain control, automatic level control, and manual gain control;
-- optional filter/switches for improved harmonic rejection;
-- compact, lightweight and portable for easier maneuverability in lab environments or tactical deployments, upgrades for extreme environmental conditions;
-- enhanced ruggedness using gallium nitride high-voltage RF transistors;
-- fast electronic voltage standing wave ratio protection during adverse load conditions;
-- monitoring and control user interfaces, including a Web browser, TCP/IP Ethernet, RS-485 interface, and a front panel touchscreen display; and
-- self-protection and diagnostics including currents, voltages, forward and reverse power, temperature, and electronic voltage standing wave ratio.

User interfaces enable the user to initiate remote management and diagnostics via an embedded Web server, enabling network managed site status and control simply by connecting the unit's Ethernet port to a local-area network.

Using a Web browser and the unit's IP address (IPV4) allows access with multilevel security. The control system core runs the Linux embedded operating system.
