LIT is involved in embedded computing technology development to protect systems critical to national security while meeting strict U.S. Department of Defense program protection requirements, Mercury officials say. The acquisition was announced this week. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

LIT has experience in microprocessor and programmable logic design. The company's services include engineering design; documentation involving schematic capture, manufacture drawings, printed circuit board design files, parts lists, and configuration files for programmable components; concept designs and briefings; product specifications; system specifications; user manuals; test plans; working prototypes; system specifications and descriptions; and design requirements analysis.

LIT's designs include serial and parallel interfaces; high-speed timing functions; glue logic; custom test sequence processors; extensive state machines; microprocessor systems; signal conditioners; analog multiplexing; A/D conversion hardware; contract power supply designs; proprietary power handling devices; a 120-channel signal conditioning board; and 360×8 channel analog cross-switch.
LIT's customers include the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Missile Defense Agency, and Department of Homeland Security. Mercury Systems, meanwhile, specializes in high-performance embedded computing (HPEC), RF and microwave products, and digital signal processing. Mercury will maintain LIT's operations in Alabama.
Mercury has expertise in military pre-integrated, open-systems electronic warfare (EW) subsystems, signals intelligence (SIGINT), electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) processing technologies, and radar environment test and simulation systems. The company also focuses on commercial embedded processing modules and subsystems, as well as RF and microwave multi-function assemblies and components.
