SIDNEY, N.Y., 4 Feb. 2016. Amphenol Industrial Products Group in Sidney, N.Y., is enhancing the company's standard connector shell plating from standard cadmium to gray zinc over electroless nickel (Gray ZnNi) for use in harsh environments.

Initially designed for use in marine applications, this plating is now used in military and industrial applications or where RoHS-compliant plating is required.

Amphenol's Gray ZnNi offers high corrosion resistance and no significant galvanic reaction when mated with leading standard market plating options. This light gun metal gray plating is cadmium-free.

Gray ZnNi is non-magnetic so it can be used safely in magnetic environments in conjunction with a connector shell that is also non-magnetic.

It has an operating temperature range of -65 to 200 degrees Celsius, has a 500 hour salt spray rating, is compatible with market standard plating options, and is non-magnetic.

The company's AC Threaded, PT, and GT product lines are available in Gray ZnNi plating through distribution partners Mouser Electronics and PEI-Genesis. For more information contact Amphenol Industrial Products online at www.amphenol-industrial.com.
