TUALATIN, Ore., 11 Feb. 2016. VersaLogic Corp. in Tualatin, Ore., is introducing the rugged FW1 FireWire Mini PCI Express expansion module for embedded computing systems.

The rugged module provides a simple, standardized way to add two channels of 1394 FireWire to most embedded computing systems. It provides one FireWire 800 (1394b) and one FireWire 400 (1394a) channel and has operation over the industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.

Designers can add the FW1's small Mini PCI Express to a board with little influence to the overall size of the system. The FW1 is compatible with a variety of popular x86 operating systems including Windows, Windows Embedded, and Linux using standard software drivers.

The FW1 module meets MIL-STD-202G specifications to withstand high influence and vibration. A latching connector on the FireWire 400 channel provides additional protection within harsh environments.
