HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 18 Aug. 2016. Abaco Systems in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the DSP282A 6U OpenVPX rugged embedded computing multiprocessor with 40 Gigabit Ethernet for signal processing in large radar systems such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground moving target indicators (GMTI).

The DSP282A is for applications where minimal latency is essential. 40 Gigabit Ethernet on the backplane enables data from several high-resolution sensors to move to the processor and then to output.

Designed for systems deployed in the most challenging environments, the DSP282A delivers as much as 665.6 GigaFLOPS of throughput per card slot as well as supporting advanced 3D graphics.

This means that the DSP282A is suited for a range of manned- and unmanned airborne, ground and naval applications that need maximum performance yet are constrained in terms of size, weight and power (SWaP).

The DSP282A has dual 5th generation Intel Core i7 2.4 GHz quad core processors. System integrators can minimize card count by mapping several platform functions such as control, DSP, image-, and video processing and graphics onto one or more DSP282As.

The DSP282A also has Abaco's on-board Security Hub and support for Intel platform security. The DSP282A is form-, fit-, and function-compatible with its predecessors.

Abaco's AXISPro application development environment supports application optimization for multi-core, multi-threaded and multi-node distributed system architectures across several operating systems including Linux, Windows, and VxWorks.
