CONCORD, N.H., 12 Oct. 2016. BittWare in Concord, N.H., is shipping two PCI Express embedded computing boards based on the Xilinx 16-nanometer Virtex UltraScale+ field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for systems demanding processing of massive data flows.

The XUPP3R is a 3/4-length PCI Express board that supports PCI Express Gen4 x8 or Gen3 x16 and offers four front-panel QSFP28 cages, each supporting four lanes that run as fast as 25 gigabits per second with support for 10/25/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet.

Four DIMM sockets support massive memory configurations including as much as 256 gigabytes of memory across four 72-bit-wide banks. Alternatively, each of those DIMM sockets can be populated with BittWare's dual bank QDR DIMMs, each providing 576 megabits of QDR-II+. An optional Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) module with 2 gigabytes can be populated in addition to the DIMMs.

The XUPPL4 is a low-profile PCI Express board that supports PCI Express Gen4 x8 or Gen3 x16 and offers two front panel QSFP28 cages each supporting 10/25/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet. Precision clocking and timing options, along with dual 72 bit wide banks of on-board DDR4 memory (as much as 32 gigabytes total), round out the board.

The XUPP3R and XUPPL4 are the first boards to ship in BittWare's family of boards with the UltraScale+ FPGA devices. The Xilinx UltraScale+ FPGAs are built on 16-nanometer process technology that actually extends Moore's law by using 16FF+ FinFET 3D transistors to offer higher performance per Watt than previous generations.
