FREMONT, Calif., 21 Dec. 2016. Dawn VME Products in Fremont, Calif., is introducing the PSC-6238 VITA 62-compliant 3U OpenVPX embedded computing power supply for rugged unmanned land, sea, and airborne mission-critical applications.

The PSC-6238 offers power to 800 Watts for conduction-cooled systems, is embedded with rugged system health monitor (RuSH) technology, precision monitoring and control, and can operate in military environments over a wide range of temperatures at high power levels.

The power electronics device offers resistance to the effects of shock and vibration per MIL-STD-810F and has an onboard real-time clock with switchable battleshort and nuclear event detect functions.

Dawn's PSC-6238 is a wedge lock conduction cooled module on a 1-inch pitch with an operating temperature of -400 to 850 degrees Celsius C at the wedge lock edge. The 800-Watt output 6-channel supply is current/load share compatible with as many as four PSC-6238 units.

The PSC-6238 front I/O panel includes a 3-color LED status indicator, VBAT battery access, and a USB port for status display, access menu control, and firmware upgrade.

Dawn's embedded RuSH technology provides intelligent monitoring and control of critical system performance parameters including voltage, current, temperature, and control of power sequencing and shutdown of all voltage rails.

Custom RuSH firmware monitors for humidity, shock and vibration, customer-specified monitoring windows, power sequencing, alerts, alarms, status and control, and event logging. The RuSH monitor interfaces to the OpenVPX (I2C) management plane, providing an I2C communication link with system cards.
