IRVINE, Calif., 10 Jan. 2017.test and measurement experts at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) in Sacheon, South Korea, needed a portable test set for the KAI/Lockheed Martin T-50TH combat aircraft trainer being sold to the Thai air force. They found their solution from Marvin Test Solutions in Irvine, Calif.

KAI officials are choosing the MTS-209 common armament test set from Marvin Test Solutions as part of the support package for a group of T-50TH aircraft purchased by the Thai air force to replace the aging Thai L-39 Albatros trainers.

The Thai T-50TH aircraft, which should be delivered to the Thai air force over the next two years, was by KAI and Lockheed Martin as a multi-role trainer.

The aircraft has several variants, including a light combat aircraft, which is capable of supersonic speeds.

The Marvin Test Solutions MTS-209, also called the Stores Suspension Unit Tester (SSUT), is a state-of-the-art portable test set for various armament systems used on the F-16, F-15, F/A-18, T-50, TA-50, FA-50, Hawk, and additional aircraft, Marvin officials say.

The MTS-209 supports a range of alternate mission equipment (AME) such as missile launchers, aircraft pylons, and bomb racks. Marvin experts based the new system on the company's MTS-207 rugged field test.

The MTS-209 combines the test capabilities of an I-Level backshop test set in a compact, rugged, flightline-qualified enclosure, Marvin officials say.

The test set's modular design simplifies logistics, and its flexible, scalable PXI architecture enables future upgradeability to match evolving test requirements.
