IRVINE, Calif. – Test and measurement experts in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) in Tel Aviv needed flight-line test sets for aircraft armament on F-16 and F-15 combat jets. They found their solution from Marvin Test Solutions Inc. in Irvine, Calif.

IAF officials are choosing the Marvin MTS-3060 SmartCan Universal O-level test set to support all of the armament systems on Israeli F-16 and F-15 jet fighter-bombers. The contract includes spares and training, and is scheduled for completion in 2018.

"With the MTS-3060, IAF can replace several obsolete test sets with a single test solution that is smaller, easier to use, and still provides more test capabilities than all the obsolete test sets it replaces," says IAF Maj. Dror Hadar.

The hand-held MTS-3060 SmartCan is a universal O-level armament test set capable of testing legacy and smart MIL-STD-1760-based weapons systems. The SmartCan supports several different kinds of aircraft and armament systems in a hand-held unit. The test set can bridge the armament test gap on legacy and 5th Gen platforms, Marvin officials say.

The MTS-3060 is deployed in 10 countries on several platforms and configurations. The U.S. Air Force uses it as a smart weapon simulator for the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) smart bomb, and for the AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM).

"The MTS-3060 SmartCan was designed to support a broad range of aircraft platforms and armament systems, increasing performance and readiness levels, reducing the physical footprint, and simplifying logistics," says retired U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Stephen Sargeant, CEO of Marvin Test Solutions.
