Rugged computer server from Themis brings supercomputing power to military applications

FREMONT, Calif. – Themis Computer in Fremont, Calif., is introducing the rugged RES-NT2 2U GPU computer server to bring supercomputing capabilities to space-limited demanding operating environments in military, commercial, and industrial applications.

FREMONT, Calif. – Themis Computer in Fremont, Calif., is introducing the rugged RES-NT2 2U GPU computer server to bring supercomputing capabilities to space-limited demanding operating environments in military, commercial, and industrial applications.

The RES-NT2 2U can operate aboard ships, on land vehicles, or on aircraft, and brings virtualization and a shallow 23-inch lightweight chassis that supports two dual slot NVIDIA graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerators, 32 terabyte storage, 1 terabyte ECC DDR4 memory, and two E5-2600 v3/v4 series Xeon processors with as many as 18 cores per socket.

The RES NT2 2U is enclosed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum and stainless steel reinforced chassis that operates in temperatures from zero to 50 degrees Celsius depending on configuration.

Advanced thermal and mechanical design has provide resilience to shock, vibration, and temperature extremes while meeting MIL-STD-810G for resistance to the effects of shock and vibration. Dual-redundant hot swappable AC power supplies provide high availability.

The server comes with five PCI Express x16 expansion slots, high speed I/O, and eight SAS3 capable 2.5-inch drive slots that accommodate as much as four terabytes each of solid-state drive data storage, or as much as two terabytes each of hard drive storage.

System expansion is available through commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) networking cards, specialized processing such as encryption, and high speed storage.

The RES-NT2 enables several virtual machines to have direct access to high performance graphic processing such as 3D visualization, visual simulation, and virtual reality. With teraflops of single and double precision performance, TESLA delivers record speeds for artificial intelligence, deep learning, signal processing, modeling, and computational physics.
