Embedded computing crossbar switch in AMC form factor introduced by VadaTech

HENDERSON, Nev. – VadaTech Inc. in Henderson, Nev., is introducing the AMC241 36-by-36 crossbar switch in the Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) embedded computing form factor that enables designers to route any of the 20 lanes from the backplane to the front.

Since the crossbar switch is agnostic to the protocol, any protocol such as PCI Express, SRIO, 40 Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and Aurora can flow between the backplane and the front panel.

The crossbar switch enable any number of receivers to receive any transmit lane, and supports rear-to-rear and front-to-front routing.

IPMI controls the crossbar switch routing through the shelf manager or front-panel RS-232 port. The AMC241 has an option for 4/8 SFP+ or 2/4 QSFP+. The QSFP+ ports have four lanes of TX/RX.

The AMC241 is SERDES based, routes 16 lanes from the backplane to the front and is also agnostic to the protocol. This helps bring fabric lanes to the front panel, but without the flexibility of the crossbar switch.
