    • DARPA eyes flexible displays for the digital battlefield
      Experts at Universal Display Corp. (UDC) in Ewing, N.J., won a defense contract to develop their paper-thin, bendable, full-color display for military applications.
    • C-MAC offers to buy DY 4
      Officials at C-MAC Industries Inc. in Montreal intend to launch a take-over bid of DY 4 Systems Inc., the Kanata, Ontario-based supplier of rugged single-board VME processors.
    • DRS uses COTS to convert airborne data recorders from analog to digital
      Engineers at the DRS Precision Echo Inc. unit of DRS Technologies in Parsippany, N.J., are converting the acoustic data recorders for the U.S. Navy's P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft from analog to digital and are using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to do it.
    • New line of LCD flat panels from Barco aimed at CRTs
      A new line of four-megapixel 20-by-20-inch active-matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCDs) from BarcoView Inc. of Duluth, Ga., is aiming at air traffic control applications as an alternative to conventional cathode ray tube (CRT) displays.
