Newport Corp. in Irvine, Calif., is offering the NewStep NSC200 motion controller, an integrated, handheld stepper motor controller-driver that provides affordable, single-axis control of NSA12 motorized actuators and MFA-PP linear stages. The controller and switchbox enables control of as many as eight positioners with one controller. The NSC200 controller-driver provides users with ergonomic manual control and computer control and features a 64x microstepping ratio for ultrasmooth, high-sensitivity positioning. The NSC200 motion controller also features a DSP that enables firmware expansion and supports all the functionality required by the switchbox and future NewStep positioners. Communications in the remote mode comes from an RS-485 communications link that allows computer control of as many as 256 units in parallel.
