F-35 Joint Strike Fighter software developer chooses Aonix Ada design tools

October 1, 2005

Software engineers at Aversan in Scarborough, Ontario, needed software design and development tools for work they are doing on the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

They found their solution in the ObjectAda RAVEN safety-critical Ada 95 environment, certifiable for DO-178B Level-A certification, and AdaCAST testing tools from Aonix in San Diego.

Aversan provides engineering services as a member of Honeywell’s engineering team in the F-35 power and thermal-management-system controller software design, as well as embedded test software design and verification.

Aversan selected Aonix tools based on selection and specification of ObjectAda for safety-critical software design to MIL-STD-490, company officials say.

“DO-178B level-A certification requires the most stringent safety-critical requirements,” notes Ted Sherlock, software manager at Aversan. “When we evaluate a supplier’s technology, we are primarily concerned with the quality of the products, the responsiveness of the subcontractor, and whether the software is technically adequate to meet our needs. Aonix fulfilled all of these requirements.”

Aonix has provided safety-critical solutions to myriad commercial and defense projects including International Space Station, Boeing 777, Rafale multirole fighter, C-130J Hercules, Airbus A 330-340, and NH-90 Helicopter. For more information, contact Aonix online at www.aonix.com.
