Four Gemini displays (up-and-down configurations) from Z Microsystems in San Diego are installed in Northrop Grumman’s Fire Scout Vertical Takeoff and Landing Tactical Unmanned Air Vehicle (VTUAV) ground control station to display system information, such as the payload video, moving map displays, and nose camera images, information necessary to fly the Navy helicopter. Within the extremely tight workspace of the Fire Scout UAV, the Geminis fold into 2U slots in a rack, as well as provide the crew access to instrumentation behind the displays and ergonomically adjustable angle of vision with its maneuverable display head. The slim Geminis were selected to fit in a 19-inch RETMA rack, but can also fit in a transit case. It is only 1.75 inches (1U) in height and 25 inches deep. Dual locks hold the Gemini firmly in the storage position, and quick-release levers lock and unlock the Gemini allowing it to slide out.
