Dual-PMC I/O controller for CompactPCI

August 1, 2005

VMETRO in Houston introduced the PowerMIDAS C5000, an intelligent dual-PMC I/O controller for CompactPCI. The PowerMIDAS C5000 integrates PowerPC microprocessors, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and dual PMC module I/O devices into one 6U CompactPCI system. Typical applications include surveillance, signals intelligence, and telemetry as well as semiconductor and medical imaging systems. With the PowerMIDAS C5000, engineers use standard I/O capabilities develop their own core intellectual property. The result is faster time-to-market and reduced cost, company officials say. The device has a 667 MHz (AMCC PowerPC 440GX processor, one gigabyte DDR SDRAM, dual PMC sites, independent PCI-X bus segments, as many as two Fibre Channel ports on the front panel, dual Gigabit Ethernet on J3 according to PICMG 2.16, dual Gigabit Ethernet on J5 for fiber or copper interface on rear transition module, differential signal routing from PMC-P14 to J3 according to PICMG 2.17 for Star Fabric, differential signal routing from PMC-P14 to J5 according to PICMG 2.3, and Fast Ethernet on the front panel.
