Rugged ultra-mobile personal computer with hot-swap battery

Black Diamond Advanced Technology in Tempe, Ariz., is offering the SwitchBack rugged ultra-mobile personal computer, which measures 7.5 by 5.5 by 2 inches and uses a 1.0 GHz Intel Celeron M processor. The SwitchBack can run Windows XP, Windows CE, Windows Mobile, or Linux. The computer is encased in a magnesium housing and is reinforced with rubbed isolators and shock-mounted electronics that meets or exceeds military specifications for shock, vibration, humidity, and extreme temperatures, company officials say. The SwitchBack has built-in thumb keyboard, as much as 60 gigabytes of removable hard drive memory, and a 5.6-inch sunlight-readable touch screen with stylus. Wireless capabilities include Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi b/g, and Global Positioning System. The computer was designed for applications in the military, field service, utilities, transportation, logistics, and public safety.
