Raytheon awarded Rapid Aerostat initial deployment contract option

Raytheon in Tewksbury, Mass., won a $5 million U.S. Army contract option to provide Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID) Mobile Eagle Eye tower systems to protect U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. The contract calls for nine Mobile Eagle Eye elevated sensor systems with deliveries beginning in February 2008. Work will be performed at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems’ Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover, Mass., and at the Warfighter Protection Center in Huntsville, Ala. RAID consists of infrared sensor systems and ground-based, motion-detection radars elevated on a stationary platform, capable of detecting hostile troop and equipment movement at great distances. This capability enables U.S. and coalition forces to respond rapidly to threatening situations.

Honeywell to support C-130 and B-2 aircraft at Hill Air Force Base

Honeywell will provide logistics service and depot maintenance support for the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber and C-130 Hercules aircraft at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, Utah. Honeywell’s $370 million Secondary Power Logistics Solution (SPLS) contract with the U.S. Air Force is the first flight-hour services and support partnership ever awarded by the Ogden Air Logistics Center. Honeywell will upgrade auxiliary power units and provide ground cart support and supply chain management services for the B-2 and C-130 under the first phase of the contract. If awarded subsequent phases, the company will expand its role to include supply chain management for the F-15 Eagle, C-5 Galaxy, A-10 Thunderbolt, B1-B Lancer, E-3 Sentry, and F-16 Fighting Falcon. The contract will reduce platform maintenance costs at the base.
