Royal Danish Air Force gains Lockheed Martin surveillance radars

November 1, 2007

Staff of the Tactical Air Command of the Royal Danish Air Force needed a high-quality, reliable radar to provide surveillance during flight. They found a solution in the TPS-77 from Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, N.Y.

The Defence Acquisition & Logistics Organization (DALO) of the Danish Ministry of Defence transferred ownership of two Lockheed Martin TPS-77 mobile, long-range surveillance radars to the Tactical Air Command of the Royal Danish Air Force at Karup Air Station, in Denmark, where the radars temporarily are deployed.

The TPS-77 is Lockheed Martin’s latest configuration of the FPS-117 solid-state radar design. The L-band tactical radar delivers 3D surveillance data on air targets at ranges out to 250 nautical miles and at elevations up to 100,000 feet.
